Synopsis of the Wizard of Oz
Set on a Kansas prairie, young Dorothy Gale (Alexa Langreck) runs away from home when a busybody neighbor tries to take her precious dog Toto (Jack Abel) away. A sudden tornado transports Dorothy and Toto to the Wonderful Land of Oz, where she is greeted by Glinda the Good Witch of the North (Maria White) and proclaimed the National Heroine of Munchkinland for inadvertently killing the Wicked Witch of the East. As the Munchkins rejoice, the Wicked Witch of the West (Angela VanLoon) descends to retrieve her sister's ruby slippers – but Glinda has already slipped them onto Dorothy's feet. The Wicked Witch departs, vowing eternal vengeance.
When Glinda tells Dorothy that only the great and powerful Wizard of Oz (Courtney Houser) can help her return to Kansas, she and Toto follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City to meet him. Along the way, they befriend a Scarecrow (Alex Troester) in need of a brain, a Tinman (Jordan Humpel) longing for a heart, and a Cowardly Lion (Carlie Abel) desperately seeking courage. After a perilous journey, they arrive at the Emerald City, the Wizard, after agreeing to take her home in a hot air balloon, leaves without her. Glinda tells Dorothy that she has had the power to return to Kansas all the while when she clicks the ruby slippers and repeats, "there is no place like home."
