The
musical Let it Be celebrates the songs of the Beatles by presenting a
story of two families experiencing love, loss, family conflict, and friendship
during the days of Vietnam and civil unrest. The story is sung entirely through
the lyrics of hits made famous by the Fab Four, by characters suggested in the
group's songs.
We meet the family of Desmond (Mason Picha) and Molly (Libby Pierce) Jones, their son Jude (Matthew Weber), their daughter JoJo (Greta Griffith), and Grandpa (Tom Desjarlais) and Grandma (Sherry Picha) Jones, all together in one house. Jude falls in love with a girl next door, Rita Martin (Chelsey Peters), who's one of three teenage sisters being raised by a single dad.
Bill Martin (Mason Gates) and his girls struggle to carry on without Bill's wife Mary, who recently died. Youngest daughter Lucy (Kiersten Elskamp) has stopped speaking, but becomes friends with neighbor JoJo.
Oldest daughter Loretta (Adysen Slusset) discovers politics and the Bohemian lifestyle, and after an argument with her father, leaves home to experience the world.
